NEWS FLASH

Ben went to the World Dog Show in Paris France and won against all other Westies to become the World Champion for 2011.  Ben is now on holidays from the show ring for the next few months and is enjoying his time at home.

Both Mela and Xelda have given us beautiful pups over the last few months, and that is keeping us busy.

Ben was a winner at  the 135th Westminster dog show this week.  Approximately 2500 dogs, all Champions participated in the two day event at Madison Square Gardens. Ben beat the other Westies in his class to take Best of Breed,  then went on to win a Group 4 in the Terrier Group.   Carol felt privileged to be there and hear the enormous crowd cheer Ben on.  Thank you everyone who cheered for and congratulated  us.  He thoroughly enjoyed his visit to New York, and appeared to smile throughout the entire show.

Bill, can now claim to be the only Canadian male to have beaten his half brother Ben this year!  The  future looks bright for this boy.

Summer was another successful show period for Ben. He has won  eight Best in Show awards so far this year, for a total of eleven BIS in his short career. He also has won five Reserve Best in Shows in 2010.   Zelda, Daisy's daughter, has begun showing and is only one point short of her Canadian championship. Chloe, the eight month old daughter of Bennie and Mila, has just begun her circuit.   We are very proud of Blythfell Talisker (Billy), sired by Monty and Dora, and owned by John and Lorraine Jardine, who also finished his Canadian championship this summer. Congratulations John and Lorraine.

November 2009

Dog show competition is heating up in November as all competitors attempt to improve their standing before year end. So far, Ben has done well earning a number of group placements as well as his second Reserve Best in Show.  Amazingly there are three Westies in the top ten Terrier standings in Canada and, at present, Ben is number eight on the terrier list. It's still a long way to December 31, so who knows how it will turn out.

October 2009

The Hatboro, Devon and Montgomery County Dog Shows are held in Pennsylvania at the beginning of October.  This four day meet is an enormous gathering of competitors from all over the USA and elsewhere.  Ben and Indie attended with great success.  Ben went Best of Winners all three days in Hatboro and Devon, to earn eleven of the fifteen points required to become an American Champion.  Indie won a five point major Best of Winners on the first day of Hatboro, and is now also on her way to an American Championship.  What a wonderful way to start October.  Again, accolades to Chrystal.  We've added a page to the Blythfell Family showing photos of our dogs in their new homes, and how well they are doing. Please take a look.  Ben's winning streak continued at the London Canine dog show. He did well during the various shows and was awarded Reserve Best in Show (RBIS) on Sunday where he lost to the number one ranked dog in Canada.  Thank you Judge Jim Reynolds, once more.

September 2009

September has been a great month thus far.  To date Ben has received two more Best in Show awards, courtesy of Judges Olga Gagne and James Reynolds, and has now earned nineteen Best Puppy in Show awards.  Thank you to all the wonderful judges who have recognized Ben, and of course, accolades to Chrystal.

Bennie received his Canadian Championship this month, won Best Puppy at the Terrier Breeders Special, plus his second BPIS at the Kitchener All Breed Championship show.

Many of our pups have gone to wonderful new homes over the last few months.  Dora received her Canadian Championship in March, and Mila achieved her championship this month.  Bennie, son of Daisy, turned six months in April, and is now able to compete in the show ring.  In his first outing, just like father Monty, Bennie won Best Puppy in Show.
